GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 23, 2015, at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas. VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Mary Ruth Smith, age 92, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015, in Stephenville, Texas. She was born on August 5, 1922, in Sherman, Texas, to Tom Watson and Addie Ruth (Calhoun) Dyer. On November 2, 1940, she was united in marriage to V. W. “Buzz” Smith in Sherman, Texas. He preceded her in death on November 5, 1973. For most of her working life, she was the secretary and bookkeeper for their family business, K Realty & Smith Builders. Mary Ruth was a member of West Sherman Baptist Church. She was a talented artist and was a member of International Porcelain Art Teachers, Texas China Painting Teachers, Rainbow Iris Society, Sherman Business and Professional Women’s Club and Sherman Lioness Club. She is survived by her son, Harold W. Smith and wife Sandra of Comanche; grandsons, Rodney W. Smith and wife Elizabeth of Forney, and Randy A. Smith and wife Shelli of Alvarado; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Marie Hughes of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and brother, James C. Dyer of Arlington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Addie Dyer; two sisters, Katherine Shadder and Lela Mae Smith; and one brother, Harold Scott Dyer.
