FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel BURIAL: Sardis Cemetery in Comanche County VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. LUNCH: Family lunch will be at the Hasse Community Center following the funeral services. Melba Hulene Harris, age 74, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born on April 11, 1937, in Gorman, Texas to H. G. “Shorty” and Odessa (Reed) McDonald. Hulene owned and operated a restaurant. On October 10, 1980 she was united in marriage to Charles “Smokey” Harris in Ruidoso, New Mexico. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a Baptist. She is survived by husband, “Smokey” Harris; daughters, Kaylene Smith, Reta Dugan, Neta Keith, and Keta Smith and husband, Gary; sons, Joe Smith and wife, Peggy, and Johnny Smith and wife, Eva; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; stepdaughter, Sharon Ward; stepson, Charles Harris II; brother, H.G. “Sonny” McDonald and wife, Pat; and sisters, Wanda McCarty and husband, Allen, Linda Clark and husband, Barry, and Judy Hawthorn . She was preceded in death by her grandson, John Smith; parents, Shorty and Odessa McDonald; brother, Billy Jack McDonald; and sister, Barbara Kay McDonald.
