VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 23, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Melva Jean Brooks, age 69, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016, in Comanche, Texas. She was born on September 27, 1946, in Gorman, Texas, to Luther Melvin and Doris (Livingston) Martin. On May 14, 1966 she was united in marriage to Benny Brooks. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a bookkeeper for many years. Melva was a member of the Full Gospel Church. She is survived by her husband, Benny Brooks of Comanche; granddaughter, Ashtyn Brooks; son, Ben Brooks and Teresa of Fort Worth; three brothers: Roger Martin and wife Brenda of Comanche; Gary Martin and wife Tami of Comanche; Camon Martin and wife DeeDee of Comanche; one sister, Cheryl Pfingsten and husband Roy; four grandchildren Colby Brooks and wife Kelly; Connor Brooks; Piper Brooks and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Suzanne Brooks; sister, Sue Wallace and brother Glen Martin.
