Mike “Hotwheel” Tate, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Tx.
Mike was born on December 22, 1946, in Cross Plains, Texas to Marion Roy and Alma Lee (Hancock) Tate. He lived life to the fullest even after suffering from polio at a very young age. He loved reading and learning receiving a master’s degree. He enjoyed doing computer work. He highly valued being a member of the Patriot Guard Riders.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy; one sister, Donna Lee Mattoks of Temple; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Alma Tate; three sisters: Lois Laverne Woods, Mary Louise Chambers and Alethea J. Morris; two brothers, Byron Gene Tate and Joe Neal Tate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to : St. Joseph's Indian School 1301 N. Main Chamberlain, SD 57325.
