VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Thursday, February 19, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. LUNCH: Lunch for the family will be at 12:00 Noon on Friday at the First Baptist Church. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice. Mittie Cordelia Cox, age 88, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015, in Comanche, Texas. She was born on October 21, 1926, the eldest of three children born to Hurshal Homer and Edna Mae (Bush) Smith. On September 12, 1946, she was united in marriage to James Lonoral “J.L.” Cox, II. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1987. Mittie loved working on their ranch, especially working with cattle. She was a talented and creative seamstress and loved making clothes for her family. She was a caregiver to the elderly and was a homemaker. Mittie was a member South Leon Baptist Church in Newburg, and the First Baptist Church of Comanche. She is survived by two sons, Eddie Lee Cox and wife Sharla of Comanche, and James Dale Cox and wife Judy of Bangs; five grandchildren, James L. Cox III and wife Kim of Weston, Jamey Cox and wife Cheryl of Plano, Shelly K. Cox of Wichita Falls, Stephanie Rush and husband Preston of Bangs, and Kris Field of Brownwood.; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Tommie Lee of Newburgh; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Edna Lucille Cox; and brother, Homer Hurshal Smith.
