Box 2369 Brownwood, TX 76801 LUNCH Sidney Baptist Church--11:30 AM Thursday, January 6, 2011 Norman was united in marriage to Bessie Mae Johnson on September 2, 1953 in Sidney and they spent 57 happy years together. Norman served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 and returned from overseas to resume his life as a successful farmer and rancher. In the years that followed he acquired and operated over 3000 acres of farms, ranches and tree farms in Sidney, East and West Texas, Colorado and Oklahoma. Prominent in the community, he served on the Board of Trustees at Howard Payne University and was Chairman of the Upper Leon Soil and Water Conservation Board for 30 years. He was a member of the Sidney Baptist Church and a Deacon for more than 35 years. Norman was also a member of the Comanche County Memorial Hospital Foundation Board and was active in the Lion’s Club. He had an outgoing personality and was loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Moore of Sidney; his daughter, Roxann and husband John Walker of Coaldale, Colorado; brother, James Delbert and wife, Donna Moore of Sidney; and sister, Margaret Dorene and husband, Milton Stevenson of Comanche, Texas. He was preceded in death by his son, Norman Kevin Moore, by his parents Avery and “Gustie” Moore, and two brothers, Raymond Ira Moore and Sherrill Avery Moore.
