Opal Conway

December 9, 1936 — January 28, 2024

Opal Conway, 87, left us to be with our heavenly father on January 28, 2024.

Opal Conway was a lifelong resident of Comanche, Tx and was united in marriage to James Conway on June 23, 1951. Together they built a life they loved, including raising their 4 kids, Robert, Larry, Darla and Johnny Conway.

Opal was a Baptist, attended the Full Gospel Church of Comanche, and enjoyed going regularly with her son until it proved too trying and difficult for her health wise. She loved being outside and doing gardening, growing flowers, and anything that involved keeping things beautiful. Opal was a wonderful cook and baker, always baking cakes and cookies to brighten people's days. Opal loved birds, loved to listen to them, watch them and feeding them; bird houses were always up and feeders were always full at their home. Christmas was Opal's favorite time of year, and always made sure a table of traditional delicious foods were prepared, along with gifts for all of her grandkids and great grandchildren, and getting family together was very important to her until a few years ago when she began residing at Songbird lodge. But it never stopped her from visiting daily and weekly with phone visits with lots of fun stories and memories with her kids, grandkids and even great grandkids.

Opal is survived by her sister, Hazel Browning Of Brownwood, Tx; nephew, Kenneth Jones and wife, Micki, of Comanche, Tx ; Sherry Green and husband, Eddie, of Eastland, Tx; lots of nieces & nephews; and 4 children, Robert Conway of Comanche, Tx, Larry Conway and wife, Kathy, of Eula, Tx, Darla Conway of Comanche, Tx, and Johnny Conway and wife, Wendi, of Comanche, Tx; grandchildren: Eric Baker of Comanche, Tx, Nick Conway and spouse, Jamie, of Hawley, Tx, Jake Conway of Eula, Tx, Jamie Moxley and spouse, Josh, of Waxahachie, Tx, Lesleigh Ring and spouse, Patrick, of San Antonio, Tx, and Clay Conway of Comanche, Tx; great grandkids include, Jessica and husband, Christian Mata of Comanche, Tx, Kayla Baker of Comanche, Tx, and Devon Baker and wife, Kris, of Whitney, Tx; great -great grandkids include Jazahzra, Nahleigh , Blakelynn Conway, Kinsley Jo Conway, of Hawley, Tx, Avery Moxley and Chloe Moxley of Waxahachie, Tx, Finleigh Ring and Patton Ring of San Antonio, Tx, Aries Baker of Whitney, Tx, and Alexander & Brayden Mata of Comanche, Tx.

Opal is proceeded in death by her parents, George and Irene Ward of Comanche, Tx, her husband, James Conway; and great-great granddaughter, Oma Meyer, both of Comanche, Tx.
