Peggy June (Hayes) Blalack, age 84, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Abilene Regional Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. She was born on September 14, 1929, in Comanche County, to Wayne and Thelma (Polvado) Hayes. On November 25, 1949 she was united in marriage to Judge L.J. Blalack. Peggy was a secretary at Trinity Baptist Church of Amarillo, Texas for 8 years and later was a secretary for First Baptist Church of Lubbock, Texas for 3 years. She was also a homemaker. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas on December 20, 1980. Peggy had a great love for her country and state. She was politically conservative, passionate about music, American history, and current events. She was very family oriented, and had a strong love for Jesus Christ and her church, Gustine First Baptist Church. Music was a large part of her life, as she was an organist and pianist for Baptist Churches in Amarillo, Lubbock, and Gustine. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Patrice Barnett of Rainier, Washington; grandson, Brent Barnett and wife Jessica of Los Angeles, California; granddaughter, April Barnett of Santa Barbara, California; uncle, Roy Dale Polvado and wife, Phyllis of Wichita Falls, Texas; cousin, Jerry Polvado of LaVeta, Colorado; niece, Dr. Penelope Blalack and husband Martin of Nevada; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Thelma Hayes; husband, Judge L.J. Blalack; and daughter, Karen Blalack.
