Pete was born October 22, 1939 in Dallas, TX to Perris and Sibyl Stanley. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas and University of Texas at Arlington before starting his 40 year career with Texas Instruments/Raytheon as a Mechanical Engineer.
Pete met the Love of his life, Pat Marels, in Dallas, Texas. They soon married and moved to Plano, TX to raise their family. They move to the Hill country after Pete retired and while Pat was semi-retired. Later Pat did retire and spent 14 years at their ranch until her death in 2014. Pete has lived in Comanche County on their ranch, for the past 24 years.
Pete loved the outdoors and was a lifelong hunter using both rifles and archery. He hunted for decades on a deer lease in Gordon, TX with people he considered not just friends but his second family. His achievements with a rifle include a Boone and Crockett Whitetail Deer, trophy Moose, Elk, and two Pronghorn Antelopes (one at 485 yards running). Pete also won numerous awards in archery including 1977 District 5 Men's Limited Championship and in 1978 was Texas State Men's Freestyle Limited Champion. Pete was TEXINS Archery Club President from 1974-1977 and later it's Treasurer.
Pete was at his happiest serving others, especially those in his community. He spent numerous summers working with Habitat for Humanity in local counties. He also volunteered his time and building expertise on various projects over the years at the Indian Gap Baptist Church, where he was a member since 2012; including the construction and installation of a stone sign in front of the church. One of the couples at his church asked Pete if he would wear a Santa Claus costume to surprise their grandchildren at Christmas. He enjoyed this so much he continue doing this for several years and he looked forward to playing Santa Claus and bringing smiles and happiness to the children.
Pete is survived by his daughter, Mary "Gina" Pryor; his son-in-law, Imar Garcia; his grandchildren, Hunter Pryor, Alyssa Bejarano, Dillon Bejarano; step grandchild Ashley Puig and step great grandchild, Aria Coe; sisters, Jonabeth Stanley Record and Carol Mantooth.
