Ralph Anthony Harris 71, loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and “Poppy” left this life for his Heavenly home on November 20, 2023. Ralph, known also as “Tony” by many, died peacefully with his loving family at his side.
Ralph “Tony” Harris was born in Bruceton, Tennessee on April 14, 1952 to Oscar and Chestine Harris. The family relocated to Texas when Ralph was a teenager. He graduated from Comanche High School in 1970 and then went on to pursue higher education at Tarleton State University where he earned degrees in both business and criminal justice. Ralph spent many years supporting children and youth through his work in juvenile justice and child welfare services. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, particularly quail and turkey hunting. Ralph fully retired from work in August of 2023 and he and his loving wife, Debra, moved to Lampasas to be closer to many family and friends. He was happy to be closer to grandkids because the role of “Poppy” was one of his favorite roles in life. Ralph will always be remembered for his sound advice, his quick wit, and his sweet spirit and we will miss him every day.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Harris and Chestine Harris Lacy; his step-father, Don Lacy; his brother, Roger Harris and several close friends. He is survived by his wife, Debra Spruill Harris; his son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Kristen Harris and Ross’s mom, Patricia Harris; his sister, Gina Ricketson; brother-in-law Laney Ricketson, his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Judy Lacy; Debra’s daughter, Alisha and her husband, Clynt Hunter; and Debra’s son Cody and his wife, Brandy Marett.
