GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Indian Creek Cemetery. VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. MEMORIALS: If desired memorials may be made to Indian Creek Cemetery, c/o Jimmy Pate, 250 CR 312, Comanche, Texas 76442. Raymon D. Hicks was born on March 21, 1931, in Comanche County, Texas, to J.J. and Lillie Mae (Creek) Hicks. He passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017, in John Peter Smith Hospital after a tractor accident on his farm. On June 4, 1954, he married Rebecca Kemp in Comanche. Raymon was a United States Army veteran. He was a trader, and for several years also operated a commercial hay bailing business. Raymon was an avid hunter and fisherman, and his pride was in teaching his sons and grandsons these sports as well as instructing them in gun safety. He was a lifetime member of Texas Rifle Association. Raymon was a Baptist. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Hicks of Comanche; sons, Ricky Hicks and wife Becky of Comanche, and Troy Hicks also of Comanche; daughter, LaVay Lavender of Bloomington, Indiana; grandchildren: Kevin Childress and wife Michelle, Jeremy Hicks, Miranda Hicks, Christen Kingsbury, and Charlsa Mata and husband Abel; great-grandchildren: Brett, Kaylor, Lucas, Peyton, Aison, and Dawson; sisters, Joyce Ward and husband Don of Sidney, and Mary Hall, also of Sidney; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jarrett Hicks, parents, J.J. and Lillie Mae Hicks; and sister, Billie Reed.
