There will be an informal get-together to honor Dick’s memory on his birthday, July 29, 2018. A time and place will published in The Comanche Chief and also on the Comanche Funeral Home website as soon as it is known.
Richard B. Hawkins, age 77, went home to our Heavenly Father on May 17, 2018. Dick was born one July 29, 1940, in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Robert E. and Helga K. (Laitinen) Hawkins. On July 29, he was united in marriage to Laura McClaskey. He served for twenty years in the United States National Guard. Dick worked hard throughout his life and was good at the several jobs he held over the years. His favorite job was working for Chas Bayer as Parts Manager, a job which he held until his retirement. After retiring from his full time job he continued to work part time as a driver for Bayer Motor Co. Dick was outgoing and loved people. He served as choir director at First United Methodist Church in Comanche and was also a Past Master of Hope Masonic Lodge #481 and was a Mason for fifty years. Dick was a good man and will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife, of thirty-nine years, Laura M. Hawkins; sons, Robert Hawkins and Brian Hawkins; brother and sister-in-law, Al and Ronda Hawkins; and numerous friends.
