MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a brief graveside service at Newburg Cemetery in Comanche County. VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday. LUNCH: The family and close friends will have a luncheon at the Newburg Community Center, following the services. Richard Shannon Seay went home to God on April 11, 2015 at the age of 56. He was born to Harold R. Seay and Glenda Gore Seay on June 13, 1958. Shannon graduated Comanche High School in 1976. He started work at the age of thirteen, working with his dad for Gore Bros, working before and after school at the hog operation. He remained in the pork production industry until his passing. His career took him and his family to Kansas, Iowa, Colorado and Texas. At the time of his passing, he was employed at Texas Farms in Perryton, Texas as Resource Coordinator and Animal Advocate. Shannon married the love of his life, Debra A. Gunter on March 20, 1982, in Gustine, Texas. He and Debra were blessed with two boys, Richard Gunter Seay on August 27, 1987, and Shannon Sidney Seay on January 21, 1990. Shannon was a good son, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He had a great smile, and was funny and full of life. He took the responsibility of being a son, husband and father with passion and love. He had numerous friends that will miss him. His devotion and love for Debra was as strong on the last day of his life as it was on the first day there were married. Shannon received Christ as his Lord and Savior at the South Leon Baptist Church. His faith in God was strong and everlasting. He is survived by his wife, Debra Gunter Seay and two sons, Richard “Reggie” Gunter Seay and Shannon “Sid” Sidney Seay. Shannon was blessed with a beautiful granddaughter, Mikaela, on December 20, 2014. He is also survived by two sisters, Terry Seay Williams and husband Bennie, and Michelle Seay Green and husband Jim. Shannon had many first cousins – Cindy, Cathy, Joe, Julie, Wes, Jed and Gala. He was also blessed with numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. He left behind Debra’s sisters and brother, Donna Gunter Haggard and husband Robert, Linda Gunter Ingram and husband Don, Steve Gunter and wife Kim and Sherrie Gunter Lee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Glenda Gore Seay, grandparents Robert Earl Seay, Anna Belle Mills Seay, Lillian Brooks Gore Burns, Ulric P. Gore and brother-in-law, Mark Gunter.
