BURIAL: Gardens of Memory, Comanche County, Texas. Rita Joyce (Chancellor) Hurt, age 76, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013. She was born on September 24, 1936, in Comanche County, Texas, the daughter of Emmett Lee and Mary Alice (Reed) Chancellor. She married Lewis Elliott Hurt of Sidney, Texas, on August 6, 1953. Rita traveled with her husband to Germany twice and to Virginia with the military and they have made Lampasas their home since 1963. She is survived by her husband Lewis; three children, Tony Hurt of Pflugerville, Anita Newman and husband Mike of Lampasas, and Danny Hurt also of Lampasas; three grandchildren, Heather Beaver and husband Brian of Lampasas, Houston Hurt of Pflugerville, and Dmitri Hurt of Lampasas; four great-grandchildren, Hannah Stults, Joshua Beaver, Kelly Beaver and Jackson Beaver; and two step-great-grandchildren, Logan Beaver and Dylan Beaver all of Lampasas. She is also survived by one brother, Jessie Chancellor and wife Mary of Comanche; and three sisters, Wanda Phillips and husband Rayford of Elma, Washington, Deborah Chancellor of Comanche, Brenda Voges and husband Gary of Goldthwaite, and brother-in-law, Donald Bartlett of Comanche. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister LouAnn Bartlett; three brothers, Larry Chancellor, Billy Chancellor and Tommy Chancellor; and one grandson, Tyson Newman.
