FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. BURIAL: Oakwood Cemetery VISITATION: Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 26, 2017, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 88, Comanche, Texas, 76442. Robert Earl (Bob) Ripley, age 90, of Comanche, Texas, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017, in Brownwood, Texas. He was born November 7, 1926, in Comanche County, Texas to George E. and Ethel Ripley. Bob graduated from Sidney High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Robbie Hicks on September 6, 1948, and they were married for over 68 years. He spent most of his career as a furniture and appliance salesman for Hathcock’s Furniture in Comanche. He spent some of his spare time repairing sewing machines. Bob was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Comanche and was a member of the Burton Bible Class. He was preceded in death by his wife, Robbie Ripley; parents, George and Ethel Ripley; brothers, L.G. Ripley, J.D. Ripley, Grady Ripley, and W.T. (Bill) Ripley ; and sister, Lena Mae Hall. Survivors include: Daughter, Elaine Dickson and husband Jerry of Plano; sons, Terry Ripley of Comanche; and Ken Ripley and wife Geneva of Fort Stockton; grandchildren, Scott Dickson of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; Ashley Liang and husband Frank of Plano; Jarratt Ripley and wife Erika of Waxahachie; Sarah Ripley of Bayfield, Colorado; John Ripley and wife Laura of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and Madelyn Ripley of Fort Stockton; step-grandson J.D. Gamboa of Misawa, Japan and wife Amaralee of Fort Stockton; great-grandchildren Allison Dickson-Bouchard and Jacob Liang of Plano; and step-great grandchild Alex Ruiz of Fort Stockton; brother, Eldon Ripley and wife Marina Jean of Odessa; brother-in-law Jackie Hicks and wife Mary of Comanche; sisters-in-law Pauline Ripley and Frances Ripley, both of Comanche, and Jean Schultz of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
