Roger Hopkins

FUNERAL SERVICES:  2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. BURIAL:  Stag Creek Cemetery in Comanche County. VISITATION:  5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday night, July 4, 2014, at the funeral home. Roger Lewis Hopkins, age 85, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014, in Comanche County, Texas. He was born on November 27, 1928, in Abilene, Texas, to Wordie D. and Zona Willie (VanCleave) Hopkins.  He was a United States Army Veteran.  On January 19, 1974, he was united in marriage to Joyce Laverne George in Comanche County.  For several years Roger worked for the Coca Cola Company in Abilene.  He moved from Abilene and worked as a mill operator for Gold Kist Peanuts for thirteen years.   He was a member of Taylor’s Chapel Methodist Church in Comanche County and American Veterans Post #43.  He is survived by his wife, Joyce Laverne Hopkins of Comanche; Brother, James Hopkins and wife, Anneliese of Flower Mound; sister-in-law, Diane Hopkins of Frisco; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Dee Hopkins; one sister, Neta Jean Fisher and husband, Ernest Lynn Fisher; and his parents, Wordie and Zona Hopkins.
