FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Roger Oliver Stadium in Gustine. BURIAL: Evergreen Cemetery VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:30 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. LUNCH: Lunch for the family will be at Gustine Church of Christ at 12:00 Noon on Saturday. MEMORIALS: American Cancer Society, 804 W. Wright, Comanche, Texas 76442 Coach Roger Oliver, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, in Comanche County, Texas. He was born on January 10, 1926, in Waco, to Robert L. and Willie Rae (Ferguson) Oliver. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy. On January 1, 1949, he was united in marriage to Bettie Lou Peters in Clifton. She preceded him in death. On July 8, 1989, he was united in marriage to Rosemary Corkery in Lubbock. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2005. Roger worked as an educator in public school systems for thirty-two years, which included Principal of Everman Junior High School in Everman, football and track coach at Comanche High School from 1961 to 1965, and Superintendent of Gustine Independent School District for fourteen years. He was a member of Gustine Church of Christ and also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Gustine. He is survived by two daughters, Kay Byrd and husband Paul, of Gustine, and Judy Gunter and Wade Luker of Gustine; son, Tommy Oliver of Gustine; special daughter, Geleta McCullough of Stephenville; four grandchildren, Melanie Benjamin and husband Kevin of Cedar Hill, Eric Byrd and wife Carrie of Corinth, Clint Gunter and wife Amy of Stephenville, and Kayla Garrett and husband Bosco of Stephenville. Nine great-grandchildren, Brice, Brady, Mallory, Kamdyn, Grady, Erin, Tyler, Braylon and Gunner; and two sisters, Patsy Krowl of Waco, and Barbara York of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Willie Rae Oliver; two brothers, Clayton L. Oliver and David Oliver; and two sisters, Louise Ledbetter and Gladys Harris.
