Rufus Evridge

Rufus Ben Evridge was born on June 7, 1917 in Comanche, Texas to Wade Hampton Evridge and Nellen "Wyatt" Evridge. He was united in marriage to Mary Eldeana Lane on August 5, 1939 in Comanche, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 29, 2007. Ben has been an integral part of Comanche his entire life. He started out working for Higginbotham's and then bought his own business. For thirty years, Ben owned and managed Ben's Fabrics in Comanche, Texas until he sold and retired in 1977. Of all the things he did for Comanche helping start the museum and serving on the water board were high on the list. He has been a lover of books and many homes in Comanche have books with his name stamped in them, as he loved to share. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone and everyone loved him. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Bunkie Furman of Arlington, Texas and by granddaughters, Melissa and Tom Dudley, Kamala Vestal, Lucy and Jim Peeples and by seven great-grandchildren, Pace, Lane, and Wesley Dudley; Regan and Travis Peeples and Kylie and Brooke Vestal.
