Sammye Parkman

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche. VISITATION: 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Sammye Jo Parkman, age 78, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013, in Irving, Texas. She was born on March 9, 1934, in Comanche, Texas, to Samuel E. and Lynna (Ross) Duke. On August 3, 1951, she was united in marriage to Tommie Gail Parkman in Austin. Sammye Jo was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a Baptist. She is survived by her husband, Tommie Gail Parkman of Irving; two daughters, Linda Slack and husband Young of Dallas, and Donna Morgan and husband Scott of Spring; grandson, Cason Word of Abilene; brother, Jerry Duke and wife Sue of Sherman; sister, Carol Green and husband Gordon of Arlington; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Cara Allison Word; parents, Samuel and Lynna Duke; brother, Buddy Gene Duke; sister, Mildred Juanita “Pat” Swart; and niece, Debbie Duke.
