Shirley Abbey

Shirley Abbey, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, in Comanche, Texas.

She was born December 11, 1935, in Comanche County, Texas, to Alton Carter and Ophelia Carver. On May 5, 1953, she was united in marriage to Wayland Abbey in Lovington, New Mexico. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and a very special friend to all. For many years she was a seamstress at the Comanche Manufacturing. She was a faithful Christian, lived a life of service, and was a prayer warrior at the East Side Baptist Church.

She is survived by daughter, Vicki Jennings of Brownwood, Tx; daughter, Twyla Henry and husband Waylon of Stephenville, Tx; son, Michael Abbey and wife Debbie of Comanche, Tx; 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Abbey; and special friend, Bobby & Mary Ellen Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ophelia Schrader and father, Alton (Buck) Carter; and husband, Wayland Abbey.
