Shirley Ann Spruill, age 66, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2011, in Comanche County, Texas. She was born on April 29, 1945, in Dallas, to Sherwood and Opal (Hardin) McDonald. On May 3, 1964, she was united in marriage to Orval Gene Spruill in Comanche. Shirley devoted her life to teaching and caring for children, and from 1979 until 1988 she worked at Comanche Childcare and in 1988 she went to work as an Instructor and Supervisor for Comanche Headstart until she retired in 2001. She was a loving wife and mother and adored her grandchildren, around whom her life revolved. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Comanche. She is survived by her husband, Orval Gene Spruill of Comanche; son and Daughter-in-law, Bruce and Amanda Spruill of Comanche; daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Roger Creek of Hamilton; seven grandchildren, Ricky Bain, Blaine Spruill, Kayden Spruill, Kelsey Spruill, Hailey Holden, Hanna Holden and Brianna Holden; sister, Sharley “Short” Seider of Mills County; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherwood and Opal McDonald; one brother; and two sisters.
