FUNERAL SERVICES: At Susie’s request, no services are planned. Susie Crabtree Cantrell, age 84, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Eastland Memorial Hospital, Eastland, Texas. She was born in Colbert, Oklahoma, on December 30, 1925, to Hugh Eldon Crabtree and Rena (Hilton) Crabtree. On June 7, 1943, she was united in marriage to James E. “Bill” Cantrell in Atoka, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on February 3, 2005. For over twenty years Mrs. Cantrell worked as an administrative assistant at University of Texas at Arlington, until she retired in 1988. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Kennedale. She was also a member of Dallas Model A Ford Club and The Lone Star Early Ford V8 Club. She is survived by daughters, Sandra Cantrell of Eastland, Sherry Nethaway of Mountain City, and Pam Cantrell of Brady; son, Jack Cantrell of Arlington; grandson and wife, Jay and Meridel Montgomery of Tulia; three great-grandchildren; brother, Hugh H. Crabtree of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by grandson, Dusty Montgomery; parents, Hugh and Rena Crabtree; sister, Sue Newman; and brother, Bart Crabtree. In lieu of flowers family requests memorials be made to agencies that provide shelter and adoption to homeless animals.
