Thomas Mcminn

August 3, 1919 — April 4, 2022

Lemuel Thomas McMinn commonly known to friends and family as Thomas, Tom, or Little Mac, went home to be with his heavenly father on April 4, 2022, at the age of 102. Thomas was born on August 3, 1919, in Collingsworth County to Lemuel Dale McMinn and Lola Emeline McMinn. He grew up in a loving family with seven sisters where he enjoyed baseball, going on walks, and walking on the family farm with his Dad. Thomas graduated from Quail High School in 1937. Afterward, he stayed to help his Dad on the farm before moving to Fort Worth where he began a thirty eight year career with what is now Lockheed Martin. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Doris Laverne Cotney and they were married on January 8, 1949.

Thomas and Doris raised their children in Fort Worth in a loving home where they were taught Christian values, the importance of honesty and doing the right thing, as well as always doing one’s best. In 1979 after their children were grown, they moved to Comanche, Texas to be near Doris’s family. They settled into their life in Comanche and Thomas retired from his career at what is now Lockheed Martin. He worked briefly part time upon retirement in the parts department for Gore’s Trucking, Inc.

After Doris retired, Thomas and Doris enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, gardening, and traveling the state of Texas looking for antique pottery and other antiques. They also loved going on many trips around the country with son, David.

Thomas will always be remembered by others for his sweet and gentle spirit. He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior as a teenager and was a faithful servant of the Lord. He served in multiple roles as a training union leader, Sunday School teacher and deacon at Springdale Baptist Church in Fort Worth and East Side Baptist Church in Comanche.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters and a brother who died in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, Doris, of seventy-three years, daughter, Jan Wynn (Mike) of Gatesville, Texas, son David McMinn, daughter Fran Milfeld (Kent) of Austin, Texas, and son John McMinn Reyna (Daniel) of Hutto, Texas. He is survived by grandchildren, Julie Bugh (Ryan) of Williamsburg, Virginia, Michael Wynn of Gatesville, Texas, Becca Milfeld of Washington DC, Karen Milfeld (Sam) of Seattle, Washington, Joel McMinn Reyna of New Braunfels, Texas and great grandchildren Owen, Allison and Brooklyn Bugh of Williamsburg, Virginia. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, great nieces and great nephews and he loved his East Side Baptist Church family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 207 Ranch Road 3381, Comanche, Texas 76442.
