He preceded her in death on May 9, 2010. Velma was a homemaker, worked as a secretary for Higginbotham Bros. & Co. and was an office manager at MHMR in Comanche, Texas for more than 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gustine and a member of the Board Baptist Church in Comanche County, Texas prior to joining the First Baptist Church in Stephenville, Texas. She was a Sunday school teacher and a nursery worker for many years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Kenny Philips of Stephenville, Texas; her daughter, Sherry Harvick of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Sid Miller, Stephenville, Texas; son, Ric White of Fort Worth, Texas: seven grandchildren, Jen Bradshaw, Jarrett Bradshaw, Jessica Bradshaw, Scotty Harvick, Janet Harvick, Truett Miller and Joe and Kelly Miller; four great-grandchildren, Kelly Porter, Jude Bradshaw, Brooke Harvick and Jonas Darwin Nyhammer; and sister, Merlene Hardy, Grand Prairie, Texas and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Cora Lee Baty; four brothers, Forrest Baty, J. D. Baty, Lloyd Baty, and Tommy Lee Baty and by one infant sister, Inez Baty.
