Wanda Ruth Brown, lifelong resident of Comanche, Texas, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015, in Brownwood, Texas, at the age of 82. She was born on May 17, 1933, in Newburg, Texas, to Frank and Mattie Lee (Cunningham) Beaty. In 1953 she was united in marriage to Raymond Brown. He preceded her in death in 1988. Wanda was devoted to her three daughters, brought them up in the church, and never went anywhere without them. She worked hard, making sure they had everything they needed and never spent a penny on herself. She was a loving and caring person, never met a stranger, and had kind and encouraging words for all her family and many friends. For many years Wanda worked as a janitor at Comanche County Courthouse. She left the Courthouse and began her all-time favorite job as a janitor for Comanche Independent School District, where she stayed for twenty years, loving and caring for all the children with whom she came into contact. Even in her final days she spoke of the wonderful children and teachers at the school, and said she never met a bad kid. Wanda was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She is survived by her three daughters, Vickie Fields and husband Tommy of Dublin, Sherry Hall and husband Ray of Brownwood, and June Bower and husband Dan of Brownwood; four grandchildren: Eric and Jim Fields of Dublin, Jeremy Gaines of Krum and Kassy Coleman of Taylor; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Chandler and husband Boyd of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mattie Lee Beaty; three brothers, Wendell, Melvin and Bill Beaty; two sisters, Frances Liss and Nina Holmsley; and one infant sister.
