FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 3, 2012, at First United Methodist Church of Comanche. BURIAL: Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Comanche County. VISITATION: 6:00-7:30 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home. LUNCH: Family will have lunch at First United Methodist Church following the funeral services. William “Bill” Clemons, age 87, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012, in Comanche, Texas. He was born on September 28, 1924, in Comanche, to Ira B. and Harriett (Tipps) Clemons. Bill graduated from Texas A & M and served his country in War II as an Infantry Unit Commander in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign. On October 16, 1957, he was united in marriage to Mary Gladys Chapman in Oklahoma. For sixty-nine years Bill worked for, and owned and operated, Clemons Motor Company in Comanche. He was also a farmer and rancher. He loved his cattle, horses, and donkeys and enjoyed hunting and taking off for a “ride”. Bill was very involved in the community and served as Mayor of Comanche, President and Director of Comanche Chamber of Commerce and President of the Comanche School Board. He was a member of the Comanche Roping Club, Comanche Lions Club, and Comanche Industrial Foundation. He was a lifelong member and lay speaker of First United Methodist Church of Comanche. He is survived by his wife, Mary Clemons of Comanche; son, Steve Clemons of Comanche; daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Don Stinson of Granbury; four grandchildren, Breighton Ira Clemons; Shayla Kaye Clemons and Jason Conine, Patrick and Brandi Stinson, and Carey and Michael Henderson; and seven great-grandchildren, Seth William Clemons, Brylee D’Shae Clemons, Mason Conine, Connor Conine, Harley Stinson, David Stinson, and Colt Henderson; and special friends, Aunt Linda and David and Faye Robinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Tyson Clemons, one daughter, Sue Hasselbeck.
